    The governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal, has confirmed that two out of the four American citizens who were kidnapped in Mexico due to mistaken identity have been found dead, with one victim reportedly wounded and the fourth remaining unharmed.

    The kidnapping occurred last week in Matamoros, after the four tourists from South Carolina had traveled to Mexico for cosmetic surgery.

    The FBI reported that the victims were traveling in a white minivan with North Carolina license plates when they came under fire shortly after entering Matamoros. The kidnappers then placed all four Americans in a vehicle and fled the scene.

    The FBI is offering a reward of $50,000 for the victims’ safe return and the arrest of the kidnappers. One of the victims has been identified as Zindell Brown, the brother of Zalandria Brown, who expressed shock and disbelief at the kidnapping.

    The group had made the trip to Mexico to split up the driving duties, but were aware of the risks involved.
